Harmony Week
Harmony Week is a national celebration that takes place in March each year. During Harmony Week the Preston North East Primary School community pays special attention to the importance of inclusiveness, respect, and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural background.

Our students enjoy this opportunity to celebrate our community’s multicultural diversity. In addition to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island families, our families have come from 25 countries around the globe, and the many languages spoken in our homes include Vietnamese, Mandarin, Somali, Italian, Arabic, Spanish, and Punjabi.
Harmony Week provides a rich opportunity for students to teach and learn from each other. Teaching and learning experiences include dance, music, and art workshops, speaking, reading, and writing in different languages, sharing stories and playing games from many cultures, and autobiographical writing. Highlights include the multicultural feasts and the Harmony Week parade.
Many students choose to wear traditional clothing to represent their family cultures, or orange to show their support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia.
