Preston North East Primary School's approach to Digital Technologies and ICT not only deepens students’ understanding and technical ability, but also prepares students for the challenges of tomorrow.
In Foundation (Prep), Digital Technology introduces young learners to essential skills through playful, interactive experiences. Students engage with iPads and educational games to explore letters, numbers, and creative expression. This helps children develop confidence and a positive attitude towards learning, while laying the groundwork for future digital literacy.
In Years One and Two, Digital Technology introduces young learners to digital literacy through interactive activities and educational games. Students use iPads to explore foundational skills in Reading Eggs and Mathletics. This engaging approach fosters curiosity, collaboration, and early problem-solving skills, setting the stage for confident and competent future technology users.
The program for Year Three and Four builds on the Digital Technology skills acquired from Year One and Two. In Year Three and Four we utilise iPads, Laptops and Sphero’s accompanied by a range of software applications both web-based and installed to build computational thinking, problem solving, fine motor and digital literacy skills. Students love using learning technology and other parts of the curriculum are integrated through our digital programs.
In Years Five and Six, ICT plays a vital role in enhancing learning by fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Students use digital tools for research, engage in project-based learning, and explore coding, all while developing essential future-ready skills. We emphasize critical thinking and ethical discussions as students delve into the world of artificial intelligence (A.I.). In the classroom, technology is seamlessly integrated to support personalized learning, allowing students to explore concepts at their own pace and collaborate with peers.
