At Preston North East, our goal is to ensure that all children become successful, self-confident mathematicians. Our students develop high-level mathematical understanding and skills.
Our teaching programs are based on the Victorian Curriculum strands of Number and Algebra, Measurement and Geometry, and Statistics and Probability. Students develop the proficiencies of Understanding, Fluency, Problem Solving and Reasoning. Learning experiences are highly engaging and challenging.
Our teachers are highly qualified and engage in regular professional learning. We assess individual learning needs through thoughtful assessment, and our programs are differentiated to include extension and support strategies.
Our annual Maths Night is hugely popular with students and their families, and the Maths Quiz allows our passionate mathematicians to shine. Many of our students are achieving at high levels in mathematics, and extension opportunities include the Australian Mathematics Competition and the AMT Mathematics Challenge.
