Students Exploring a world of learning

Grade 5/6 Area

The Grade 5/6 Area in 2009 comprises 4 classes: Manda Laurence (5/6M, Room 17), Chris King (5/6C, Room 18), Wendy Stewart (5/6W, Room 19) and Sophie Gidley (5/6S, Room 20). All classrooms are in the North Block of the school and the Team Leader is Manda Laurence.

This term, the grade 56s are focussing on learning about Natural Disasters. The students will increase their knowledge of characteristics that cause change to the Earth’s crust and learn that many natural events are interrelated. They will learn about the impact for humans and that actions of people can affect the environment.

The Grade 6s are at the end of Primary Schooling and to celebrate this, they will graduate at The Furlan Club in Thornbury in December. This is a formal occasion for the students with a dinner and a disco. In order to assist the payment for the grade 6 families there has been a lot of fundraising. The students have had a Hot Dog day, Out of Uniform day, with Discos and big Raffle to come.

Congralulations are due to our Cricket and Rounders teams who made Area finals. The sporting prowess and commitment of the students in all of the teams this year has been fantastic. Plenty of hard work and testing has taken place in the classroom and reports are being written.
