Harmony Week

Students come to PNE from a many different backgrounds and cultures.

In our school, there are currently students and staff who speak different 30 languages from across the globe and Aboriginal and Torres Strait students.

With such a rich and diverse community, Harmony Week at PNE is a true celebration of everything that we are and an important part of our calendar.

This year, in 2023, we had a fantastic Harmony week. Students wrote about their families and home languages and cultures in class.

These autobiographies were shared with each other and some students shared at assembly.

We shared a wonderful lunch as part of our Multicultural Feat.

Thanks to the many parents who prepared delicious food for this.

Students came to school dressed in traditional clothing or in orange, showing their support for Harmony Week.

Students paraded these diverse and colorful outfits at a special assembly.

We had a whole school language lesson, learning how to say hello in all the languages of the school.

The last event for Harmony Week was a multilingual story reading sessions.

For an afternoon, stories in the following languages could be heard at PNE:
Vietnamese, Persian, Mandarin, Japanese, Somali, Arabic, Tagalog, Spanish, Pashto and Punjabi.

A huge thank you to these parents and grandmother who helped make this a wonderful learning experience.

While we always celebrate the great big mixing pot that is our school, it is lovely to have a week dedicated to our multiculturalism.
