Performing Arts
Performing Arts provide us with pleasure and a sense of community. It engages our imaginations. It allows us to assess our uniqueness. It provides opportunities to appreciate the work of others and enhance work and leisure opportunities. It provides a different means of exploring and communicating feelings and ideas.
Preston North East Primary School provides students with 50 minutes of Performing Arts sessions each week. Activities are designed to compliment the Integrated Unit being studied where possible. Children participate in related songs, dances, drama activities as well as instrumental accompaniments and their own compositions. The students explore composition through music technology using programs such as Super Duper Music Looper and O-Generator. The dimensions and standards reflected in Victorian Learning Standards for the Arts provide the foundation for the program.
Every second year the school produces a musical or school concert that involves every student.
Each year the Prep students perform in a Prep Prom in December involving dancing and singing. In 2008 our whole school performed in Grade and Year Level items in a concert around the theme "A Night At The Movies". Below are some images from our 2006 Musical "Kids in Paradise".
